/ - slide up
- slide down
X - mute with palm of picking hand
U - upstroke
D - downstroke
() - incidental note
~ - hold note
harm - harmonic
rake - exagerate the strumming of the chord
(but not enough for it to be an arpeggio)
The intro voicings are based on an open A-shape, slid up and down
the neck. The scraping noises are achieved by scraping the plectrum
up and down the strings. The guitar sound (for Guitar1) is slightly
distorted - too much distortion will make this section 'mushy'.
The verses are made up of 2 guitar parts. Guitar1 plays partial bar
chords, based upon the open A-shape, at the 3rd and 5th positions.
Guitar2 plays muted root notes and power chord versions of the bar
chords, based upon the open E-shape, at the 8th and 10th frets.
The choruses consist of power chords and a 5 bar riff.
The bridge makes extensive use of Bar chords. Verticle lines above
the TAB stave show the rhythm pattern used.
The picking patterns in the bridge, bars 10-17, are based around the
moveable E-shape at the 8th and 10th frets. This has been shown as a
2 guitar part, because of the way the notes are allowed to ring over
each other - it is possible to approximate this part with one Guitar.
The noise section lasts 38 bars and is a more extreme version of the
intro. I haven't tabbed it out, but use the Intro as a guide to what
you could do here. Use plenty of string scrapes, and also the pickup
selector to switch between pickups, creating a rhythmic effect.
The outro is based on bars 3 and 4 of the chorus - but played in a
staccato style.
